Résumé
TOWARDS AN AGRICULTURE SUPPORTIVE OF BIODIVERSITY: Synergies between biodiversity and soil organic matter By Vincent Manneville, Idele - @InstitutElevage Organic matter is key for soils physical, chemical and biological functions. Micro-organisms of soils are major players in organic matter dynamics. A study of the effects of agricultural practices in mixed-farming systems under various ecosystems has shown that some agricultural practices can significantly increase soil organic matter content and microbial function of soils, as well as biodiversity. Governance and cooperation By Alex Datema, farmer - Boerennatuur - @BoerenNatuurNL Experience of different visions in the EU: land sharing in mixed systems (French) vs land sparing (Northern systems), Natura 2000 zones, agreement between farmers, nature conservation NGOs. Healthy soils and biodiversity: what ruminants can do that cropping systems cannot? By Donal Sheehan, farmer - The Bride Project - @bride_project Example of a ruminant farmer’s practices towards fostering ordinary biodiversity and soil health by using a diversity of forage species and grassland types, by introducing short-term grassland in crop rotation, and by diversification of land use and thus maintaining open habitats and landscape. Introduction of legumes that contribute to nitrogen (fertiliser) and protein (feed) for livestock and contributes to animal health thanks to some of their secondary metabolic compounds. The BRIDE Project is an innovative agri-environment project based in Ireland. The project is an Operational Group co-funded by the European Innovation Partnership (EIP Agri). Good practices of industry driving production By Miguel Ángel Higuera, ANPROGAPOR - @anprogapor1 Example of a company involving farmers and developing local and/or labelled products accounting for biodiversity, healthy soils and healthy food products schemes with added value for farmers and appreciated by the consumer. HOW TO IMPROVE THE POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION OF LIVESTOCK AND REMEDIATE BIODIVERSITY AND SOILS HEALTH? PANEL DISCUSSION Moderated by Jean-Louis Peyraud, INRAE & former ATF President - @PeyraudJean with the audience, the speakers and Tiago Domingos, Terraprima
