Résumé français
Tree and pork: agroforestry systems for sustainable and high-quality pig production Agroforestry systems can be defined as the integration of trees and shrubs into free range animal farming systems. They are traditional practices that have nowadays been adapted to modern systems, thanks to the implication of researchers and agricultural actors. Agroforestry allows for the combination of sustainability and high-quality products. Trees optimise farming system and diversify feeding sources while providing welfare and comfort to the animals. These benefits result in performance gains and premium meats. The tree is also an asset that provides many ecosystem goods and services, including the following: carbon storage, water flow regulation, soil fertility and biodiversity preservation. Through adequate practices, agroforestry associated to pig farming is a successful and profitable proposition to reconciliate productivity and environmental health.
