Organic agriculture has grown intensily world-wide in recent years. The demand for naturally produced food is continuously increasing. Like-wise, the interest of governments in environmentally friendly agriculture and healthy food is also increasing. Therefore, it is expected that the area under organic production will continue to grow. This dossier explains the basics of organic agriculture and shows how these are applied in practice. It serves as a valuable source fo information for farmers considering conversion to organic farming. The dossier is also a guide for the provate sector, government representatives, NGOs and other interested parties in their efforts to make food production in Europe (and elsewhere) more sustainable.
